At first it was vital that something be done to stop the bandit raids, the harassment and murder of the peaceful people inhabiting the shinning plains should not, could not be allowed to continue.
Where to start seemed obvious, often the murdering bandits were found to be carrying maps that appeared to lead to the bandit’s lair, however making head or tail of the maps proved to be problematic as a very specific skill set was required to understand the maps.
Fortunately Mirv Wrutehugor the Dwarven Druid had spent hours honing just these skills and was up to the challenge posed by the Maps, and so off to the bandits.
Mouse Swiftfoot sat at a table in her room in the Dragonfly Inn, kicking her feet against the chair rungs and muttering to herself in her quiet voice as she struggled to decode the Bandit Queen’s journal. Scritch, scratch, her quill danced across the parchment where she was making her notes.
Setting down her quill with a sigh, Mouse stood up and stretched. She picked up a clay mug of tea from the table and took a cautious sip. Grimacing at the bitter flavor, she decided a fresh cup was definitely in order.
When we left our heroes, Mouse and the Princess Valeena had just discovered the secret location of the Bandit Queen’s hideout. Join them now as they discover what lies within...
Stepping quietly in her soft boots, Mouse descended the ladder into the bandits’ lair. Pausing a moment to allow her eyes to adjust to the torchlight, she listened closely for any guards, but her keen hearing detected nothing but the drips of water from the stone walls. Mouse signaled to her companions that it was safe to continue, and soon she was joined by the Princess and her retinue of knights.
Mouse Swiftfoot was standing near the south gate of Whittershins, checking her bags one last time before heading off to Ormath, when she heard an imperious voice behind her. “Hmph! You are rather small, but I suppose you’ll do! Here, take this!” Mouse turned around to find a regally dressed woman dangling a map case by its strap. She shook it impatiently. Mouse took the case from her, feeling somewhat puzzled.
“Very well! You may act as my lady-in-waiting while I use this map to locate the Bandit Queen,” the strange woman announced. Mouse was surprised at her good fortune: here was a fellow adventurer (albeit a rather odd one) heading out on exactly the same mission as she was!
It was a hot day in Turmish, and Mouse Swiftfoot was dusty and thirsty from traveling the long road to Ormath. She was grateful when she finally reached the settlement of Assam. Settling down in the Crusty Sausage Tavern for a drink, she decided to ask a Ranger how things were going in Ormath. She had seen some disturbing things there on her previous visit, and didn’t want any nasty surprises.
